A South African man has been given two life sentences for the brutal rape and murder of a teenager, in a case that shocked the nation.
Johannes Kana, 21, admitted to raping 17-year-old Anene Booysen in a brutal attack earlier this year.
The case sparked mass anti-rape campaigns and condemnation from South Africa's President.
Ms Booysen's body was found dumped at building site east of Cape Town in February. She was beaten and disembowelled.
Kana was arrested with three other men but only he stood trial.
He pleaded guilty to punching, kicking and raping Ms Booysen but denies cutting her open.
President Jacob Zuma called the attack "shocking, cruel and most inhumane".
"We must never allow ourselves to get used to these acts of base criminality to our women and children," he said.
There are around 65,000 sexual offences committed each year in South Africa.
An estimated one in 36 get reported, police say.
The National Prosecuting Authority called Friday's sentencing a victory for rape victims in South Africa.
"We know it will not be able to bring back Anene Booysen or lessen what happened to her," said the authority's spokesman, Eric Ntabazalila.
The sentencing was met by muted clapping from Ms Booysen's relatives and sobs from Kana's supporters in the public gallery.
