A bungling burglar was forced to flee, leaving behind his car, iPad and photographs - after waking up the homeowner who then hit him over the head with a hoe.
Los Angeles police have released images of 25-year-old Miguel Luna, who they say was behind the botched raid.
"It's often said in forensics that we always leave a little bit of ourselves behind anywhere we've been," said Lieutenant Paul Vernon.
"But this guy must have set some record on the variety and amount of evidence he left."
Detectives claim Luna kicked in the door despite visible CCTV cameras and warning signs, and woke the sleeping homeowner who then confronted him.
The doomed raider tried to escape but his car would not start so he tried begging the homeowner not to call the police.
The whole botched attempt was caught on CCTV But the man chased him outside instead and managed to temporarily knock him unconscious with the hoe.
Detectives say Luna recovered enough to make off on foot.
Police found photos on an iPad, abandoned along with other suspected stolen electronic equipment, in a 1989 Honda left in the home's driveway.
Also inside was a signed traffic ticket issued to one Miguel Luna the previous day.
"This crime scene was really a study in how to get caught," Lt Vernon said.
"Every manner of evidence was present: video surveillance, blood DNA from the hoe, pictures on the iPad, a footprint on the door, a traffic citation with signature, a car, fingerprints and eyewitness identification."
Unfortunately, police arrived too late to pick their suspect up on the day of the burglary.
They are appealing for information on Luna's current whereabouts.
